An Urban-Meets-Vintage Wedding at Historic Rice Mill in Charleston, South Carolina

Jess Walton (31 and in sales) met Drew Teagle (33 and in sales) while working in Charleston and the pair moved to Atlanta the following year. While they were back in South Carolina visiting over the Fourth of July weekend, Drew proposed to Jess with his great grandmother's 1920s art deco ring. In honor of their Charleston start, the couple planned an understated urban-meets-vintage affair at the Historic Rice Mill. "We chose this spot for the indoor/outdoor feel and its historic aspects like exposed bricks and beautiful windows overloooking the water," says Jess. "We had the ceremony outside and moved the reception inside while still utilizing the covered patio." Jess paired her classic strapless gown with navy Kate Spade heels and her six bridesmaids stunned in nontraditional mint and gold gowns. The couple utilized a navy and blush color palette with accents of gold and aqua for their understated affair. Navy and white striped table runners added a contemporary feel to the glowing wood lantern centerpieces. "We wanted a fun, laid back celebration with lots of music, food, dancing and most importantly wanted to be able to spend time with family and friends," says Jess. "After the reception, we moved the after party next door to Salty Mike's!"
