An Outdoor Garden Wedding at Weller's Carriage House in Saline, Michigan
After running in similar, shared friend circles for over a year, newlyweds Sarah Bell (25 and a speech-language pathologist) and Craig Waldie (25 and a CRNA student) began dating as sophomores at Michigan State University. Fast forward five years and Craig popped the question while on a trip to Florida's Okaloosa Island surrounded by family. "He proposed at sunset by singing and playing my favorite song on the guitar," Sarah says. "We were just so lucky to have both of our families there to celebrate with us." While planning their September nuptials in Saline, Michigan, the couple knew one thing was for certain: "We definitely did not want a traditional, ballroom wedding," the bride says. Their shared love for the outdoors and vintage details led the couple to Saline's Weller's Carriage House, where they put a deposit down the moment they saw the space. "It was once a Henry Ford soybean mill that the Weller family turned into a beautiful wedding venue," Sarah says. "The ability to have an outdoor ceremony with outdoor dancing sealed the deal for us." Thanks to soft, romantic details -- like nude bridesmaid dresses paired with subtle pops of pink in the bouquets -- the newlyweds pulled off the perfect garden-inspired outdoor ceremony in front of 170 guests. "The day wasn't just for us," the bride says. "It was for our mothers, fathers, siblings, families and friends whom we treasure. There's one photo that was taken at the end of the night where everyone is dancing under the pavilion -- the families are intermingled and our friends are scattered among cousins. It's our favorite because it represents our idea of the perfect day."
