An Outdoor, Classic Wedding at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, Florida

Amy Morales-Williams (32 and a chef) and Jean Marc Williams (30 and a registered nurse) became good friends while both working at a hotel. About three years later, their relationship blossomed and they began dating. One night when Amy got out of work, she and Jean Marc took a walk on the golf course at the hotel where she was working. When they reached the last hole on a small island, Jean Marc asked Amy if she was stuck on a deserted island with only one person, who would that person be. He then told her that she would be his person and pulled out the white-gold ring. They decided to have their wedding at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, Florida, where the beautiful lake acted as a backdrop for the ceremony. "The look was effortlessly elegant," Amy says. Their color palette was plum purple, gray and black. Amy always knew that she wanted plum calla lilies for her and Jean Marc's flowers and used them as inspiration for the plum color. White hydrangeas acted as centerpieces for the purple tables at the reception, while round, white paper lanterns hung above. They had an Asian and island-inspired menu and, keeping with that, Amy and Jean Marc gave guests small rum cakes with either a crane or tortoise origami decoration as wedding favors. "The crane is a symbol of happiness, good luck and peace, and the tortoise is a symbol of longevity and protection," Amy explains. Amy and Jean Marc truly allowed the Japanese garden setting to inspire their day.
