An Organic, Urban Wedding at Events at Haven in Birmingham, Alabama

Grace and Harry Arnold struck the perfect blend of urban and organic aesthetics for their elegant Southern wedding in their hometown of Birmingham, Alabama.

Events at Haven, the historic home of the Mack Truck Company, offered a unique backdrop for the celebration, with its exposed brick and trusses and edgy, contemporary details.

Flowers were an integral part of the celebration’s design, with suspended arrangements of cascading vines, green amaranthus and roses bringing drama to the reception décor. From the bouquets to the floral archways that welcome guests as they entered into the industrial reception space, all of the day’s designs were created by Grace’s uncle, the head florist at Thibodeaux’s Floral Studio in New Orleans.

“We had flowers framing the main room’s entrance, floral chandeliers over the bars, flowers as centerpieces and flowers outlining the band’s stage,” Grace says. “The flowers added a softness to the urban setting.”

A live painter captured the couple’s first dance and used Harry’s grandfather’s sword, which he received for being an honor graduate in his midshipman course, to cut the wedding cake. “It was a really special moment, especially for Harry,” Grace says.
