Gilded touches, natural wood and lots of lush greenery lent Susan Monahan and Simon Board an organic, bohemian wedding day vibe. “We wanted a romantic, warm dinner party and loved the idea of creating an oasis in Hollywood,” Susan says. “Lush florals, good food, candles, open bar.” Madera Kitchen in West Hollywood offered the ultimate backdrop for the fete, with its exposed wooden beams, bright natural light ,and cascading vines and suspended plantings. A palette of soft, neutral hues let the uniqueness of the space shine through, while playful gold animal escort card holders doubled down on the event’s earthy edge. “The kids loved them, and so many of our guests told us later they ‘rescued’ their animals to display at home! I love that it became a memento of one epic night,” Susan says. Taper candles held in vintage brass candlesticks and bundles of romantic blooms dotted the rustic wooden dining tables, bringing an element of warmth and softness to the décor. A photo booth jam-packed with silly and seriously English props (a nod to Simon’s roots) was another detail that went over big with guests. “It was so great to see the photos later and all the groups that paired up and got silly,” Susan says.
