An Opulent 1920's Themed Wedding at The Marquee Ballroom in Hartford, Connecticut
Ashley Libero (26 and a jeweler) and Michael Abate (26 and a chef) were high school sweethearts, dating since their junior year of high school when they met through mutual friends. Ten years later, the two went out to dinner at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the Yale University campus. In the midst of dinner, Michael got down on one knee in the middle of the crowded restaurant and proposed. They planned their ceremony for the breathtaking Saint Francis Church in New Haven, Connecticut, Michael's family parish and former middle school. The venue gave them a close sentimental feeling and hosts the longest aisle in all of Connecticut. The reception moved over to The Marquee Ballroom in Hartford, formerly a department store from the 1920's so it was decorated in with vintage art-deco inspirations. As guests entered the ivory and gold ballroom, they were greeted by flappers serving champagne and candy cigarettes as a jazz trio played on the balcony overhead. As everyone sat down for dinner, they were served a 14oz prime New York strip steak before heading into the atrium to dance to the live band. Once they were all tired out, guests could make their way over to the shoe shining duo or sit down for a late night snack and the apple cider and donut bar.
