Punchy pops of purple, ombré accents and a unique distillery backdrop injected Morgan Youngs and John Butterfield’s spring wedding with plenty of personal flair.
The day unfolded at the Westland Distillery in Seattle, kicking off with an intimate ceremony in the cask room, followed by cocktails and a sit-down dinner in the tasting room. A long dining table ran the length of the room, framed on both sides by wood whiskey barrels that infused the room with endless rustic charm. Purple linens and bundles of blooms popped against the space’s earthy color palette. Even the wedding cake played up the evening’s ombré theme, with its colorfully combed buttercream frosting and fresh flowers.
To put an extra-personal twist on the day, the couple opted to DIY some of the decorative details. “My husband is really into wood carving, so I gave him the table numbers as a project, and he hand-carved all of our table numbers front and back,” Morgan says. “They turned out so amazing, and went perfectly with the wood in the room!”
The pair also paid tribute to their respective alma maters with whiskey barrel tops bearing their college logos. The spirited embellishments doubled as their guestbook. “We also had our cake topper custom made of clay in our own likeness, wearing football jerseys in our rival colors with our favorite numbers on them,” Morgan adds.
