An Oceanview Pink-and-Green Wedding at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara, California
With a background in interior design, Matthew put his creative skills to work for his wedding to Brian. “We wanted a Palm Springs meets Santa Barbara vibe,” Matthew says. To make it work, the couple paired muted mid-century hues with coastal touches, like rattan chairs, dried palm leaves and pampas grass. Modern hits (like ghost chairs and sleek typography) completed the elegant look. Brian and Matthew married at the same coastal hotel where they got engaged, The Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara, California. The pair brought in tropical foliage, palm-print pillows and vintage lounge furniture to create a cohesive look. Also, coordinating for the occasion? Their palette-perfect bespoke suits. Sips included a lavender old-fashioned and a grapefruit lime mocktail. Guests dined on Maryland crab, roasted sea bass and charred cauliflower steak besides terra-cotta vases filled with roses, dahlias, anthurium and dried palms. "For dinner we wanted the mood to be elegant but relaxed in a West Coast way," Brian says. "Even the napkins were artfully strewn on each plate with no hard folds." The newlyweds danced to an acoustic rendition of “The Best” by Tina Turner before legendary drag queen Lady Bunny made a surprise appearance.
