Codi Knoch (28 and a photographer) and Eric Shellenbarger (28 and a commercial banker) were friends in high school, but built a deeper connection when they started coming home on breaks from college. The couple dated for eight years before Eric popped the question. Codi and Eric planned a Friday night filled with dinner plans and last-minute Christmas shopping. However, Codi ended up working late so she just went straight home from the office instead. When she arrived at his house that night, Erin handed her a single red rose with a handwritten note. Codi read the heartfelt note and looked up to see Eric drop down on one knee to propose. The couple wanted to have their wedding by the ocean, so they decided to book the Kukahiko Estate in Maui, Hawaii, for their private ceremony, cocktail hour surrounded by oceanic views and their indoor tropical reception. On the wedding day, Codi wore an ivory dress accented with gold lace designed by Maggie Sottero with a beaded belt designed by Lazaro around her waist. Codi and Eric decorated their venue in a color palette of white, silver and pink to create their classic beach wedding (although not much decor was needed, thanks to the beautiful waterfront backdrop.)

Codi wore a pair of ivory open-toed shoes with a crystal embellished heel on her wedding day, designed by Benjamin Adams.
"My wedding dress was a Maggie Sottero dress with ivory and gold lace that reminded me of tropical foliage, and it was belted with a beaded Lazaro belt," Codi says.
Codi stood in the middle of her two bridesmaids, who were wearing mint colored dresses designed by Alfred Angelo.

"Neither of us had ever been to Hawaii. However, after looking at images of the Kukahiko Estate, I knew it would be the perfect location for the quaint wedding we wanted," Codi says. "It offered amazing ocean views and a private setting for the ceremony and cocktail hour where guest could enjoy the sunset."

The couple had an intimate number of twelve guests at their destination wedding, inviting their closest friends and family. "We tried to keep the attire relaxed with an island look so everyone would be comfortable and cool in the evening sun," says Codi.

"The overall theme for the wedding was classic whites and silvers with touches of blush pink," Codi says. "Since the venue was so beautiful I didn’t want to pick a color that was distracting. We wanted the colors to blend but yet be soft and relaxing, the flower arrangements consisted of mainly white hydrangeas , roses and orchids."

"For the cocktail hour, guests enjoyed AloharnBars serving up Lava Flows, Mai Tai’s and a collection of craft beers and wines," Codi says.
