An Intimate Wedding at the Sonesta Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Alex Youst (26, a director of operations at the Original Philly Cheesesteak Company) and Joe Dulaney (27, a physician) met in college at The Pennsylvania State University. Their first date ended with the pair laying on the HUB student union’s lawn, watching the stars. At that point, Alex knew Joe was the one, he says. Within six years, the couple dated, became engaged and planned a champagne and wisteria-accented wedding. However, one important aspect had to be changed about a year prior to their wedding: the venue! Originally, the couple had planned their wedding at another location in Fort Lauderdale Beach. When it needed to undergo construction, the couple switched to a wedding on the Sonesta Hotel's terrace in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Alex and Joe gave personal vows and held their unity sand ceremony overlooking the ocean. The couple decorated their intimate ceremony with a white fabric draped bamboo arch, white calla lilies placed at each end and a small arrangement of red roses on their sand ceremony table. An indoor reception brought a pop of color to the wedding. Alex and Joe decorated the space with purple uplighting as well as mixture of white and purple calla lilies on each table. Their guests enjoyed a plated dinner, multi flavored wedding cake, dessert bar and coffee cart.
