An Intimate Spring Wedding at City Hall in Ann Arbor, Michigan

The spring season provided the ideal backdrop for Harvard grads Avery Williamson and Kidus Asfaw’s wedding, which they said described as a “moment of growth and blossoming.” After a wedding in City Hall that the mayor officiated early in the morning, an intimate brunch followed with family. To welcome April and their "new adventure together as newlyweds," the duo included pops of orange in their style and flowers. "We felt orange was unique and would photograph well against the pre-spring landscape,” Avery says. Their wedding was also a chance for friends and family to visit Avery and Kidus in their new home because they had only lived in Michigan for about one year before their wedding, as Kidus pursues his PhD. "It was an opportunity for us to introduce our friends and family to our city and the things that we enjoy and love about Ann Arbor," Avery says. Their favorite part of the day was when the mayor of Ann Arbor officially announced them as husband and wife.

We love how Avery was able to #MakeTradition by putting a spin on the classic wedding gown. She wore a cropped dress she found on Amazon.com with playful J.Crew heels.
