An Intimate, Spring Elopement at Shakespeare Garden in Central Park in New York City, New York
When planning their wedding, Michelle Jeans (40 and a sales manager) and Hugo Warnock (38 and a farmer) wanted to keep things simple and intimate. With a spring trip to New York City already in the works, the couple decided to make the most out of their holiday and tied the knot in the Big Apple. “I have grown to love New York after spending a lot of time there in the '90s,” Michelle says, “and for me there is no place other than Central Park.” With a location decided, Michelle and Hugo scoped out the ideal place to say their “I dos.” Central Park’s Shakespeare Garden was the perfect fit: It had a serene, off-the-beaten path setting tying in seamlessly with the intimate vibe the couple were after and lush greenery, vibrant blooms and New York City charm. Michelle’s parents were the only guests in attendance, which allowed the couple to truly focus on the moment and each other. “It was very special to spend the entire day together without having to worry about anybody else,” Michelle says. “And my mum and dad just loved being with us and experiencing New York for the first time.” After exchanging vows under a canopy of pale pink cherry blossoms, Michelle, Hugo and Michelle’s parents headed to Central Park's Loeb Boathouse for a decadent lunch overlooking the water. A tip from Michelle: “New York City traffic is unpredictable—we nearly didn't make it to the park on time!”
