An Intimate, Rustic Wedding at The View Restaurant in Estes Park, Colorado
Elizabeth Stewart (22 and works for Mary Kay and is a ministry leader) and Zach Christensen (22 and a software developer) met at Elkhorn High School in Nebraska. Zach proposed on New Year’s Eve when he came over very early in the morning and woke her up. “He told me he made me breakfast upstairs,” Liz says. “We went up and on the table was a plate of chocolate chip pancakes that spelled out, ‘Marry Me?’ with Starbucks (my favorite!) for incentive. When I turned around he was on his knee holding a gorgeous ring.” The couple wanted an intimate, religious ceremony for their wedding. “Our ceremony most represented us and our Christ-centered relationship,” Liz says. “We have a solid relationship with God and everything in our ceremony represented that. We know that our marriage would not be possible without Him.” During communion and the unity candle lighting, they sang “Lord Our God” by Kristian Stanfill, which was really special to them as they made vows to one another. “There is a line in that song that says, ‘We won’t move without you,’ which is something we turn to often in our marriage.” Afterwards, the newlyweds, and their 48 guests, celebrated with a family-style dinner by The View. They used plum and champagne as their main colors and mixed in shades of gray, orange and green to match the rustic mountain feel. At the end of the night, they enjoyed a small cake and cupcakes (including delicious raspberry lemonade flavor!) also made by The View and danced, laughed and celebrated into the night.
