Allison Baker (26 and an engineer) and Eric Weghorst (25 and an engineer) met in a lab in college. Eric proposed on New Year’s Eve in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, which is also where they had their wedding. With only 24 guests, the couple had an intimate wedding. “We love the town of Steamboat Springs, and we wanted all of our out-of-town guests to have a fun mini vacation there,” Allison says. “The view from our ceremony spot was absolutely breathtaking. Plus everyone got to ride the gondola up to our ceremony and reception location, which proved to be a really fun and unique part of the day.” Since they thought it would be strange to have a stranger as their officiant, they asked Allison’s grandfather to do it. They ended the day with a family-style dinner. “The benefit of having a small wedding is that you get to spend genuine time with each person there.”

Allison wore a oval-cut diamond engagement ring with a simple diamond band.
Allison carried champagne roses, white peonies and pink ranunculus in her lush blush and white bouquet.
Allison and Eric exchanged vows under an eucalyptus leaf wedding arch accented with pink roses.
“The ceremony was by far the most memorable part of the day,” Allison says. “We got so lucky with the weather. It was cloudy and looking like it might rain, but right before our ceremony was going to start the clouds started to break up and the sun came out to light up the entire valley. It was truly amazing. My smile was so big throughout the ceremony, and I felt way more relaxed than I imagined I would. It was truly just magically to be standing on a mountain top, pledging my love to Eric, with our closest family and friends watching, as the sun streamed down on all of us.”
“We really wanted to have a small wedding with just our immediate family and a few close friends,” Allison says. “We wrote the ceremony by ourselves so that we could include elements that were important to us as a couple. My grandfather performed the ceremony. He did a beautiful job and it's something we will always cherish.”

Allison didn’t like any of the white dresses she tried on, so she wore a blush bridesmaid dress from BHLDN. “I didn’t feel the need to stick to the traditional white wedding dress, so I just decided to go for what I really loved,” she says.
With only 24 guests, Allison and Eric enjoyed an intimate reception that felt more like a family dinner. “We had a lot of time to talk to each of our guests,” Allison says.
Allison and Eric used a neutral color palette of blush and ivory. The simple centerpieces included blush roses, white peonies and lamb’s ear.
