An Intimate, Nautical Wedding at One Fish Two Fish Restaurant in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Vicki Sloboda (23, special education teacher) and Brendan Shay (25, naval officer) met during a snowstorm while both of them were attending the University of Pittsburgh. Although Brendan had signed up for the Navy before meeting Vicki, that didn’t stop them from falling in love. Brendan proposed to Vicki with a cushion cut diamond ring on the steps of the Cathedral of Learning in Pittsburgh. The couple decided on a nautical theme for their wedding since Brendan is in the navy and Vicki loves the sea. Their color palette was primarily navy and ivory with coral and silver accents. Vicki and Brendan had a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Star of the Sea Church in Virginia Beach. They chose One Fish Two Fish as their reception venue, a restaurant that they had gone to for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner. They loved the restaurant’s views, atmosphere, and most importantly, its food. Flower arrangements included coral and ivory roses, coral hypercium berries and dusty miller. Tables were decorated with white lanterns and candles on navy and coral linens. Nautical details included a seafarer’s map onto which the escort cards were pinned, menus that Vicki created herself, navy and white table numbers and a three tier buttercream wedding cake provided by Bliss Bakery. Vicki and Brendan’s nautical wedding was a beautiful, intimate celebration of their love.
