An Intimate Nature-Inspired Wedding at Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado
Katie Kaltman (28 and a teacher) and Terrance Eck (28 and a stay-at-home husband) met at Lowe’s. On their two-year anniversary, Terrance planned a day of activities from where they first got to know each other to their favorite museums. Terrance hung up a poster board with balloons, and Katie had to pop the balloons to see what the next activity would be. “The last balloon said, ‘Will you make me the happiest man in the world? All you have to do is turn around.’ And when I turned around, he was on one knee,” Katie says. “I started crying (obviously). He gave me a ring with nine diamonds (to signify the spirituality of our relationship, cloud nine).” The couple exchanged vows with 15 of their closets friends and family at Wild Basin Lodge. Katie’s brother stood in as her Matt-of-Honor (since his name is Matt) and Terrance’s best friend, Adrian, stood with him. Inspired by nature and the outdoors, the couple kept all the decor rustic and natural. It had been raining the day of their wedding, but stopped just long enough for the ceremony. “When we kissed, it thundered so loud,” Katie says. “It was so magical!” The couple had an intimate dinner with an iPod playing in the background. They hung out enjoying each other’s company for about three hours and then went to a friend’s cabin after that to continue the party. “It was very simple and relaxed,” Katie says. “The whole entire wedding represented us as a couple and our journey through this life.”
