An Intimate Museum Wedding at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami, Florida
After scrapping plans for an elopement in Italy, Janet Nguyen (35 and a special projects editor) and Gary Sonkur (35 and an entrepreneur) opted for an European-influenced intimate family feast. Their vows took place among leaves, vines, lanterns and rose petals. “One of the things that I knew I wanted for sure was a circular ceremony," Janet says. We were literally surrounded by love in what can only be described as the most awesome ‘circle of trust’ ever.” A close friend officiated as the couple exchanged personalized vows, and the pair’s puppy played the role of ring bearer. Bold pink peonies topped the reception tables, enhancing décor inspired by “big family feasts.” Mini footballs painted gold functioned as clever escort cards. Guests lounged on antique-style furniture while smoking hand-rolled cigars and snapped pics in the “wacky booth” set up by the photographer. “Guests could eat, dance and party all night!” Janet says.
