Veronica Miles (25 and in employment screening) and Eric Miles (26 and a spec writer) worked together while they were attending college. What began as a friendship eventually turned into much more, and four years later, Eric proposed. Veronica came home from work to find a suitcase on her bed with a note that said, “We leave Saturday. Pack enough clothes for one week. All different weather conditions.” Eric refused to answer any questions and mentioned he already got her the time off from work. They left early in the morning and took a ferry to the San Juan Islands, where they climbed up a tower on Mt. Constitution. On the way up, Eric secretly wrote a note that said a proposal was in process to prevent any disturbances. Veronica and Eric were engaged by the time they came back down the tower, with a group of people cheering at the bottom. The couple had their elopement at Wallace Falls State Park in Gold Bar, Washington in the middle of the forest. Veronica wore a simple ivory wedding dress purchased from Private Label Bridal and Eric wore a tan suit. Veronica held a bouquet filled with herbs and lavender, which her mother always used when she was growing up.

“I had a bouquet of lavender and herbs. Lavender is a very special herb to me and it is my most favorite flower. My mother always used it when I was a child so it reminds me of her,” says Veronica.
Eric had a lavender boutonniere tied with a variety of herbs pinned onto his tan suit jacket.
Veronica wore a strapless ivory wedding dress that she had purchased from a local bridal shop and had completely redone.
“It was a simple, yet super meaningful ceremony that included some traditional vows along with our own personal touches,” says Veronica. “It was a magical way to start our lives together as husband and wife and I wouldn't have changed anything!”
"Our two best friends were there as the two witnesses, and our dog was our flower girl," says Veronica.
Veronica and Eric had a hand tying ceremony at their wedding. This is symbolic for not only coming together, but staying together.
Veronica and Eric wore comfortable, brown shoes on their wedding day.
"We didn't want a big, elaborate wedding that cost tons of money and didn't want the stress that comes along with those types of weddings," says Veronica. "That's the main reason we decided to elope; we could make sure every single moment of our big day was spent on each other."
The couple shared an intimate moment at Wallace Falls State Park, where their elopement took place.
