Alexia and Bryan wed in an intimate minimony surrounded by a limited number of friends and family, an abundance of fragrant roses and endless love. While the COVID-19 pandemic forced the couple to change their wedding plans, Alexia and Bryan look back on their joy-filled wedding day at the World Peace Rose Gardens in Sacramento, California, with fondness. "Our micro wedding was a last-minute change of plans due to COVID-19. We wanted the day to be completely different from our originally planned wedding, (which we hope to still have next year as a reception) but still hold deep significance for us," says Alexia. "Our micro wedding featured traditional Japanese wedding colors of red, white and gold (the groom is 1/2 Japanese) and the location was in downtown Sacramento, California. We were both born and raised in the Sacramento area. To save money, since we still have our reception planned for next year at our original venue, we selected a location that needed very little enhancement to be beautiful. The World Peace Rose Garden offered the perfect setting with its well-kept grounds. We only added fresh rose petals and chairs."

The fact that the couple's intimate wedding day was a family affair made the nuptials even more special. Alexia notes that the most special moment of the big day was "right after the ceremony when our 9-year-old son was so happy he was crying tears of joy and ran and jumped on us to give us a big hug. In that moment we realized that even at 9 years old he fully understood how special and impactful our wedding was not just for us but for him as well! We didn’t anticipate how much we would love having a micro wedding. It was the perfect day and looking back on the experience now there’s nothing we would change about it. We’re very happy we didn’t let the pandemic stop our plans of moving forward and getting married."
