An Intimate Destination Wedding on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands

Brittany Davis (26 and a dive instructor and mate on a yacht) and Kris Stevenson (28 and the captain of a yacht) met while working in the British Virgin Islands and continued a long-distance relationship for years while Brittany was in school and Kris crossed the Indian Ocean. When Brittany graduated, she joined Kris on the yacht and they traveled the world together, sailing, scuba diving and teaching. Kris proposed in one of the couple’s favorite cities, Charleston, South Carolina. The couple had their wedding on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, which “has always held a special place in our hearts, as it is where we met and our whole relationship bloomed,” says Brittany. With a small group of 14 family members in attendance, the wedding was relaxing yet formal. The color palette included warm, Caribbean colors such as pink, teal and yellow. Following the wedding ceremony on the beach, the couple and their guests went to an island restaurant, Cocomaya for champagne and local fare. “Our lives are what most people would consider a honeymoon,” says Brittany. “Every aspect of our wedding reflected Kris and me, as we were surrounded by the people that care the most about us and in a location that means the world to us.”
