An Intimate Courtyard Wedding at Forsyth Park Inn in Savannah, Georgia
Courtney Parker (25 and a graduate student) lived within five miles of Luke Tiner (28 and an air traffic controller) for over five years—they even went to the same gym and grocery store!—but didn't meet until going on ChristianMingle.com. Nine months after dating, Luke proposed with a vintage rose and white gold ring during a horseback-riding outing. For their intimate celebration, the couple knew they wanted a limited guest list and planned a small celebration at Forsyth Park Inn in Savannah, Georgia. The bride's dad built their chuppah in the courtyard the morning of their wedding to commemorate the sacred and humbling promise they were making before friends, family and God. "We wanted a small wedding with only our closest kin and friends to share in our weighty, holy and incredibly joyous day," says Courtney. "We picked the Forsyth Park Inn for its intimate, old-world courtyard that was the perfect setting for our small gathering." After the service, our guests boarded a trolley car and headed to Vic's On the River, where they overlooked the Savannah River while enjoying classic Southern favorites, including fried green tomatoes. Courtney and Luke were inspired by Savannah throughout their wedding planning process and added pops of peach into their navy and gold color palette as a nod to their southern locale. A memorable bride and groom dinosaur cake topper added a playful feel to the understated restaurant reception. "A wedding is a unique and holy experience, and as such, we wanted it to reflect us, as a couple, but also remind our guests of the sacred undertaking that a wedding is," says Courtney.
