An Intimate Coastal Wedding at The Chanler at Cliff Walk in Newport, Rhode Island
Home is where the heart is, and for Tim Goebel (left, 36 and a partner manager at Google) and Tom Luciano (33 and a senior account manager), home is exactly what they had in mind while planning their intimate celebration at a boutique hotel. “Our wedding was about the company,” Tom says. The pair tied the knot overlooking Easton Bay and though they walked down the aisle hand in hand, “We would’ve skipped with champagne if we could have,” Tom says. Afterward, Tim, Tom and 45 guests headed to The Spiced Pear restaurant. The tablescapes paired ornate gilded frames with low-laying centerpieces that guests could talk over with ease. Arrangements of hellebore, fritillaries, peonies, poppies, lilacs and sweet peas reflected the day’s refined yet natural aesthetic throughout the hotel’s interior. “We brought the room to life as if it were our home,” Tom says. For dessert, everyone grabbed slices of gold-flecked cake filled with alternating tiers of chocolate with salted caramel, vanilla with mocha and fresh raspberries, and pound cake filled with pistachio cream. A cellist and pianist performed classic jazz, but there wasn’t a dance floor in sight. “We wanted to focus more on the conversation and food,” Tom says—and each other, of course.
