An Intimate Blush-and-Green Wedding at Larkin’s Sawmill in Greenville, South Carolina

After postponing their April wedding because of the pandemic, Miranda and Joe decided to host an intimate South Carolina wedding in July with a much smaller guest list in keeping with pandemic safety guidelines. "Our wedding was special because it truly represented the love that we have for each other. We wanted each intricate detail to describe our love story of being timeless, romantic, Southern and intimate. Florals, lighting and the mix of metallics played a huge part in creating a simple yet classic feel. Our vision was for each guest to leave with a little piece of our love story," Miranda says. "From our ceremony centered around a marriage quote from Billy Graham, dedicating our own written vows in memory of our loved ones, and taking guests on a journey through our story in our personalized guest book and engagement canvas wall. We chose Larkin’s Sawmill in Greenville, South Carolina, as our venue because it had wonderful views of a rock wall, the rustic and historic (century-old) sawmill, an indoor rock fountain and fireplace with mahogany accents in the décor. These elements added an air of comfort, uniqueness and coziness that made all of us feel at home. It complemented our pastel color palette of dusty rose, dusty blue and gray. Our quintessential pastel wedding colors were chosen initially for the spring but worked beautifully in July. We incorporated tent canopy structures, fans and white umbrellas to keep our guests comfortable in the July heat."

The couple's monogram anchored their wedding design for the South Carolina event. "When we first began the planning process, we created a monogram with our initials of M “heart” J enclosed in a circle. We wanted this monogram to be displayed in wedding details as it described our precious bond and would epitomize our union. The monogram enclosed in a circle symbolized the wholeness, simplicity and delicacy of our relationship. Our monogram was highlighted in our invitation suite, cake topper, custom dessert napkins, the round thank you place settings, monogram lighting, the balloon hoop installation, photo booth strips and floral hoops for my bridesmaids that were designed by myself and our florist. We really enjoyed seeing it displayed in so many intimate details during our day."  From there the couple layered in other décor elements to bring the Larkin's Sawmill fête to life. For Miranda's wedding bouquet, the arrangement included "blush ranunculus, pink rice flowers, ivory and blush tulips, playa blanca roses, white wax flowers, ivory spray roses, dusty miller, bonsai eucalyptus, and honeysuckle vine. It was partially covered in an ivory ribbon with two small photo charms of my deceased brothers."

For the couple's reception, Miranda and Joe wanted "each intricate detail to describe our love story of being timeless, romantic and intimate." A prominent nod to the couple's story came in the form of Joe's surprise groom's cake. Miranda says that he was "surprised to see his groom’s cake in tribute of his favorite things: kayaking, camping, Gamecock football, fishing, and his dog Roscoe."
