An Intimate Beach Wedding at Fort Zachary State Park in Key West, Florida
Jessica Fernandez (25 and an accounts payable specialist) and Robert Martinez (25 and a law student) met in the sixth grade, but did not start dating until they they were sophomores in high school. Ten years later, Robert surprised Jessica by proposing on a trip to Disney at their favorite restaurant, Ohana's at Disney's Polynesian Resort. As the hostess led them to their table where both families were waiting, Jessica's father told her to turn around, and Robert was down on one knee. With special memories in Key West, Florida throughout their relationship, Jessica and Robert knew they wanted to be married there. The Fort Zachary State Park allowed the couple to customize their special day exactly how they wanted, creating an intimate vintage beach setting. They used vintage lobster traps as the focal point of their ceremony while adding vintage wooden ship floorboards and a vintage silk fishing net to their reception tables. With just 20 of their closest family and friends, Jessica and Robert were able to have the reception at Banana Cafe, their favorite restaurant in Key West. Their speciality is French cuisine and their three course dinner included menu options such as Lobster Mac-n-Cheese, French Onion Soup, Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus, Yellowtail Snapper, and NY Strip Steak. Jessica's favorite part of the day was their wedding ceremony because the entire ceremony in addition to the vows, were written from scratch by Jessica and Robert. "The words that were shared were the greatest reflection of us as a couple and the love that we feel for one another," says Jessica.
