An Inspired, Vibrant Wedding at Fairmont Hotel in Washington, DC

Margaret Mitchell (29, buyer) and Alastair Cottrill (31, strategy manager) met at a bar in Australia. Margaret had just moved their for her job and she wasn't planning on living there for longer than a year, but after a magical first date eating exotic delicacies at a trendy Japanese restaurant, she ended up staying in Australia with Al. Three and a half years later, Al proposed to Margaret while her mother was visiting because he knew how special it would be for Margaret to celebrate her engagement with her family. Margaret and Al decided to exchange their vows at the stunning National Cathedral in Washington, DC, where Margaret grew up attending church. With the help of Laura Ritchie from Events in the City, Margaret and Al had an inspired garden themed wedding at the Fairmont Hotel in Georgetown. "The wedding day was completely seamless and perfect because of Laura," says Margaret. Alternating farm tables and round tables were decorated with lanterns and glass cloches. Breathtaking coral and pink bouquets of dahlias, ranunculus, peonies, roses and succulents from Holly Heider Chapple decked the venue. Stationery included the coral escort cards displayed on a wood frame moss board and green and white menus that matched the vivid coral, green and yellow invitation suite designed by Haute Papier. Despite the long distance planning and international wedding party, Margaret and Al's gorgeous D.C. wedding went off without a hitch, and the day perfectly commemorated their love and togetherness.
