An Industrial-Meets-Romantic Wedding at BANQ in Kingsport, Tennessee

Despite going to high school together, Brittany Coleman (24 and an accountant) didn't meet Marshall Couch (23 and a systems analyst) until they were introduced by mutual friends after a worship service is college. Even though they had talked about marriage, Brittany was still shocked when Marshall proposed during a family photo shoot at his parent's house. "After all the pictures of the entire family had been taken, we began to take pictures as individual couples," says Brittany. "When our turn came, we were told to sit on a swing in his parents’ backyard and after a couple of shots, Marshall suddenly got up from the swing, reached up to the top corner of the swing and pulled out a ring box." The couple exchanged vows at Harvest Community Church a renovated industrial factory in Kingsport, Tennessee. "The sanctuary was an interesting mix of industrial elements such as exposed metal rafters and natural stone accents on the stage," says Brittany. The couple continued their ceremony's industrial-chic theme with a modern reception at BANQ. A clean purple and gray color palette warmed with renovated 1920's bank and lush hydrangea accents enhanced the soft feel. "When we first started discussing wedding details, we determined that Marshall preferred more modern and urban details while I leaned toward a more classic and romantic style," says Brittany. "We ended up compromising by picking ceremony and reception venues that were urban and modern by design and then adding soft decorations including candles and lots of flowers."   "When we first started discussing wedding details, we determined that Marshall preferred more modern and urban details while I leaned toward a more classic and romantic style," says Brittany. "We ended up compromising by picking ceremony and reception venues that were urban and modern by design and then adding soft decorations, such as candles and lots of flowers."Our reception venue was similarly a mix of modern and industrial design. We had ourreception at BANQ, which is a 1920s bank that has been renovated into an event space. The best thing aboutBANQ for us was that the elegant styling and decor of the event space required very minimal extra decoration onour part to make our reception stunning. Brittany & Marshall had a beautiful wedding day full of love, laughter, friends & family. I am so blessed to call them friends as well as clients. They are a wonderfully quirky couple that is always open for a laugh. As you can see from some of their wedding day pictures. The day started early with the girls getting ready. Lots of giggling and girl talk as everyone got their hair and make up just right. Friends and family were milling around making the day extra special. Marshall's mom was helping with the reception decorations while Brittany's mom was helping all the girls get ready. The Banq was hopping! Several blocks down the road, my 2nd shooter, Jessica, was having fun capturing the groomsmen's antics. Lots of video games and laughs at the church to quell Marshall's nerves. She took them out and had some fun with the downtown graffiti and recreating the famous Beatles Abby Road. The ceremony was in an urban church in downtown Kingsport with plenty of modern elements to keep with Brittany's downtown vibe. Purple stage lighting gave the whole area a beautiful glow as she walked down the aisle. Christian elements and special unity crosses were used to remind the couple of God's love and His importance in their relationship and life. After the I do's, we headed towards the train depot for some cool shots with graffiti covered train cars and historic downtown elements. We made fools of ourselves while a cop watched from a far...just to make sure we didn't get run over by a train. Or at least that was his excuse! We eventually made it back to Banq so the reception could continue! Amazing food, laughs and dancing ensued. The groom and best man even made their own song and dance routine for the garter toss. My ears have yet to recover!A sparkler exit was the perfect way to end their perfect evening. We laughed, we cried but overall it was amazing. Thank you Marshall & Brittany for letting us share in your day. ttDress: LaLonde's Bridal BoutiqueTux: Moon TuxedoChurch: Harvest Community ChurchPastor: Bryan HendersonReception Hall: BanqDJ: Party CentralCake: Patsy's BakeryCaterer: Basic2BrilliantCeremony Musicians: Casey Mitchell & Matt QueenStationary Suite: MagnetStreet.comFlowers: Occasions by Marijo & LoHair: Nyana MaloneMakeup: Angie GilliamVideographer: Lakepoint Films
