Kristin (29 and a graduate student) and Andrew (32 and a Senior Development Operations Engineer) first met online. After a year of dating, Andrew staged a relaxing weekend in Asheville presumably celebrate Kristin's career change. Despite bad weather and a change of plans, Andrew proposed to a completely shocked Kristin on a mountain peak. The pair planned an industrial-meets-bohemian celebration at The Cookery in Durham, North Carolina. "The intimate, small feel of the building, combined with the exposed brick walls, the metalwork salvaged from Durham landmarks and the 20-foot ceiling made this the perfect space!" says Kristin. In honor of their love of biking, a tandem bicycle logo was carried throughout the day from the personalized invitations to the custom-illustrated chalkboard installation in front of their dance floor. An ivory and blue color palette added to the bohemian feel and was chosen because everyone in their families look best in blue. Family and friends made all of the simple baby's breath arrangements, including the bride's delicate flower crown. Andrew even made the rustic wood ceremony backdrop for their indoor vows and the couple is now repurposing it in their house. "We love that a piece of our ceremony will forever be a part of our home!" says Kristin. "I love a simple look and think anything can be made into beauty if you put heart and soul into it!

"We used only baby's breath in blue mason jars because it looked simple and sweet in our venue," says Kristin. "All of the flowers—centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres and my flower crown—were made by my friends and family!"
