An Industrial-Chic Garden Wedding at the Foundry in Long Island City, New York
Pamela Pryor (30 and an event planner) and Ryan Meiser (27 and a financial consultant at Fidelity Investments) said "I do" under the Queensboro Bridge at the Foundry, in Long Island City, New York. Taking the gritty feel of New York City and mixing it with a city in bloom, Pamela created a theme she refers to as “industrial chic meets romantic garden party. “So as not to detract from the raw space, we went with a neutral palette of dove gray, navy and mint with metallic accents for good measure. The exposed brick and clinging ivy didn't need much dressing up.” Pamela says. The Foundry offered guests a bird’s-eye view of the wedding, while the reception gave them glimpses of New York from a see-through tent. “Ryan and I agreed we wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us as a couple. While the big picture is a must, I truly believe the details really make the event,” Pamela says. Using a "P (heart) R" wax seal, she created a logo that was used from their engagement to their big day, including invitations, programs, napkins, stir sticks, menus, place cards and wedding signage. Other romantic details included groomsmen tie clips containing the longitude and latitude coordinates where each had met the groom, as well as Ryan’s tie clip containing the coordinates where he met Pamela. Celebrating their nuptials on Pamela’s grandparents' anniversary (her something borrowed), Pamela says, “The entire day, start to finish, was a celebration. Our best man speeches were probably the most hilarious speeches I’ve ever seen—they even had the waiters rolling in laughter.” But what she cherished most was the ceremony—led by a good friend of the couple—as well as sharing her wedding date with her grandparents, knowing guests felt special and loved, and “the fact that I got to marry Ryan.” —Ginger Harris
