An English Garden-Inspired Pink Wedding at 9th Street Abbey in St. Louis, Missouri

Brian Ernst (24 and a manager at KFC) proposed to Laura Beth Codispoti (22 and works in advertising) at an ice rink in Forest Park. For their wedding, the couple chose 9th Street Abbey for its high ceilings, exposed wood beams and stained glass windows. They also loved the beautiful garden courtyard for cocktail hour. “I really wanted an English garden with an urban twist for the wedding,” Laura Beth says. “9th Street Abbey was perfect.” The excellent, attentive staff at the venue really sealed the deal for the couple, though. Pink (Laura Beth's favorite color) was used throughout the day, from her pink tulle wedding dress and the ombre bridesmaid dresses to the soft pink uplighting and linens at the reception. Ahner's Florist created all of the lush, English garden-inspired floral arrangements using peonies, garden roses and ivy for an elegant, but wild look. The escort cards were even displayed in wooden planter boxes filled with pink impatiens. One of Laura Beth’s favorite parts was the gorgeous pink and white peony sugar flower-decorated wedding cake. She knew she wanted giant sugar flowers and had a difficult time finding the perfect baker. However, Nancy at Artistry On Cakes made her dream cake, which was as delicious as it was gorgeous. At the end of the night guests enjoyed a DIY Ted Drew’s frozen custard bar for an ultra-local St. Louis touch.
