Alyssa Ullmann (25 and a project manager) and Patrick Sylvester (31 and a tower foreman) met at a popular local bar/restaurant. They spent the next two years getting to know one another and growing more inseparable. When Alyssa planned a surprise birthday party for Patrick with all of their friends and family, he put a surprise twist on her instead and turned it into a proposal party! The couple chose the Saybrook Point Inn & Spa for it's proximity to the water and enchanting local parks. The natural beauty of the area and the low lit settings of their indoor venue inspired the soft, warm color palette of ivory, gold, and coral. Ivory tables topped with ivory flowers boasted pops of coral in flower petals scattered around the centerpieces. The ivory was the perfect base color for the mood lighting on the walls to reflect off of the decor. A delicious spread of food was only the beginning of the savory snacks offered throughout the night, leading up to a big dinner of prime rib and roast chicken. As a special treat for guests, there was a photo booth during the cocktail hour where they could take pictures and make their own memories of the night. As a favor for them to take home, Alyssa made photo sleeves and set them on each table to accompany the great photo booth pictures.

Pat and Alyssa went with a modern look for their wedding invitations. Printed in black with bright touches of golden yellow, these invitations were a bolder take on the soft, beautiful palette of the ceremony and reception.
Engagement and Weddings Rings on Top of the Invitation
Bride Putting on her Jewelry
The bride wanted a dress that made her feel like a princess. This gown by Pronovias managed to capture that ideal look. It had beautiful accents all over the bodice and a soft rippling skirt.
The bridesmaids wore long, strapless dresses by Donna Morgan. The bride fell in love with these dresses because they flattered everyone. The light mint color was a beautiful addition to the cream and coral colors of the reception.
Groomsmen in Black Tuxedos and Black Ties
Bride and Groom on a Path in the Park
The bride and groom loved the location as it was right next to the water. They did a first look before the wedding at Harkness Park in Waterford and chose that location for pictures because it was the same location they had their engagement pictures taken.
Ceremony in the Inn Ballroom
Pat and Alyssa made sure to include their 5 month old son in as many of their wedding activities as possible. He visited with all of the guests and managed to stay up the entire night without crying even once!
Wedding Party Outside After the Ceremony
Handmade place cards added a delicate DIY touch to the reception decor. Sparkly gold cards were surrounded by coral rose petals and pictures of the bride and groom.
Inn Ballroom Reception Area
The floral arrangements were set around the room in white cases atop small columns. The ivory and coral touches meshed beautifully with the colors of the venue and were tied together by hints of green.
The color palette was made up of mint, white, coral and gold. The bridal party all had beautiful white bouquets with gold accents. The flowers on the tables were white with coral rose petals scattered around them.
Passed Appetizers were served throughout the cocktail hour and reception along with a variety of amazing foods like this sliced sirloin with gorgonzola and balsamic glaze on top crostini.
Alyssa and Patrick opted for a traditional ivory wedding cake with an edgy twist of studs on every other layer. The flavor was a bold surprise too with apple spice and a toasted walnut frosting.
