An Elegant Winter Wedding at Chelsea Pier in New York, New York

Aldrin Arche (37 and an ad salesman) and Mike Moreno (37 and a teacher) met while studying performing arts at Oakland University in Michigan. The two started dating after a year of being friends and moved to New York City together after graduation. Sixteen years later, on June 24, 2011, the state of New York passed the law to approve same sex marriage. They then attended the Gay Pride parade with friends and loved ones, making it one of the most special moments of their lives knowing marriage was in their future. Aldrin and Mike chose the venue, The Lighthouse in Chelsea Pier that has a stunning view of the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty. When the couple stepped into the space, they knew it was the perfect canvas for a electric indigo blue, shades of grey, black and white color scheme. These colors were seen in the wedding party's attire and the handmade stationary by Aldrin's Best Lady, Yuen Hom. Their ceremony was officiated by a close friend and stand up comedian who brought love and laughter to the day. The couple's favorite quote from the ceremony was, "...and after all, what goes better than…beans…and rice?" It got a huge response and applause from the guests because it represented the grooms' personalities and sense of humor. A string quartet played during the ceremony and into the cocktail hour that served delicious food that represented Aldrin and Mike's native roots. The reception began with the newlyweds dancing to Beyonce's Love on Top, which surprised all of their guests. With an open bar stocked with top shelf liquor accompanied by DJ Scratch Weddings, the reception became a big dance party, which was exactly how the couple wanted it.
