An Elegant Wedding at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida

Kristen Grice, a nurse practitioner, 27, and John Waugh, a loan officer, 28, met during their last two months of college at Florida State University. After years of dating and eight months of planning, the couple had a peacock themed wedding. “I love the vibrant greens, purples, and blues,” says Kristen. Hues of these colors were used throughout the wedding. The bridesmaids wore long royal blue dresses. Each held an ivory bouquets with peacock accents. The groomsmen and John wore classic black tuxedos with ivory rose boutonnieres. After a traditional church ceremony in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, the couple and their guests moved to the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, for the reception. “We decided not to do assigned seating. Our hope was that everyone would be on the dance floor,” says Kristen. The couple had a buffet style dinner, photo booth and a few surprises during their celebration. KTG band played throughout the night as well as helped Kristen sing “At Last” by Etta James to John. “I wasn’t even nervous, it felt so natural and it was seriously one of the best moments of my life singing to him,” says Kristen. John was not the only one surprised that night. “Our videographer, unbeknownst to us, actually set up a couch confessional where our guests could step outside the reception and leave us funny and loving messages that we got to watch later,” says Kristen.
