An Elegant Wedding at the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum in Boston, Massachusetts
JoAnn (31 and a Speech Pathologist) and Mike (38 and a software developer) met in Boston in 2011, during which they discovered "a shared love of Photo-Hunt, pets and pre-gaming for first dates while watching the Patriots with friends," says Jo. The first date lasted eight hours and from then on, the two were inseparable. The spent their dating days "pub-crawling and cooking aggressively complicated meals." Much to her shock, Mike presented Jo with a set of rings -- heirlooms from his paternal grandparents -- at a truck stop onto the Massachusetts Turnpike. He chose to "re-propose" later that night ("Down on one knee this time!" Jo says.) on the Jersey shore at sunrise over champagne. "While the second proposal was much more romantic, the rest stop story has been the one that stuck!" Jo and Mike began preparations for a Boston wedding at the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum. The theme was to be "trees." "The invitations had two trees twisted together, which reflected an ancient myth (Philemon and Baukis, and old couple whose kindness and generosity toward others was rewarded with spending eternity as two trees, interlocked in each others' arms) which was read during the ceremony," says Jo. "To carry this theme through, the couple watered a tree during the ceremony and the guests signed an oak bench crafted by a close family friend."
