An Elegant Wedding at Olowalu Plantation House in Lahaina, Hawaii

Olowalu Plantation House in Lahaina, Hawaii, was “the most beautiful place” Melissa McClusky (30 and a personal trainer) and Matt McClusky (34 and a director of business operations) had ever seen, so there was no doubt that the venue—with its scenic ocean views—was perfect for their simple outdoor wedding. The naturally stunning backdrop meant little decoration was needed to bring the space together, just adding “a few paper lanterns and minimally dressed tables to include a bit of glam, so there were pieces of sparkle here and there,” Melissa says. A bright color scheme of white, coral and gold was weaved into the day through the vibrant floor-length bridesmaid dresses, the flowers, men's pocket squares, table dressings and the wedding cake wrapped in a winding floral design. “Our cake was amazing," Melissa says. "It was lilikoi [passion fruit] with a coconut cream frosting.” Hawaiian influences helped shape the ceremony, choosing a Hawaiian wedding song to accompany them down the aisle, and the traditional maile lei was draped around Matt’s shoulders. After creating a wedding day she never wants to forget, Melissa says it is important to “simply live in the moment of the day and try to remember details, such as the sweet conversations you will have with your guests and the look on each other's faces.” A videographer captured the day and created a video that the two plan to watch every year on their anniversary. —Jen Leahy
