An Elegant, Watercolor-Inspired Wedding at Keswick Hall in Charlottesville, Virginia
Lisa Werner (30 and an HR manager) and John Bradley's (30 and a consultant) wedding was more than a celebration of their nuptials, it was also a celebration of the beauty of spring. “I love light spring colors and really wanted to let the beauty of Charlottesville, Va. shine through,” says Lisa. With a palette of pastel peach, green, pink and cream hues and the playful watercolor illustrations of Jenny Commins, including a guest book site map and scenic Virginia table numbers, the pair brought the historic and stately Keswick Hall, where the reception took place, to life. “We truly fell in love with the location from the minute we walked in,” says Lisa. “It was the perfect combination of elegance and Southern hospitality and the staff is incredible.” Showcasing Charlottesville, where the pair met and attended college, was essential for Lisa and John. From small water color pocket maps pointing guests to their favorite restaurants and various site-seeing recommendations to the menu featuring locally sourced food and wine, many of the wedding’s elements gave guests a chance to experience Virginia and the Blue Ridge Mountains in all their glory. Lush arrangements of pastel Southern blooms, olive leaf and eucalyptus garlands and plenty of warm candlelight infused the open-air reception tent with romance and ambiance, while details like dark wooden chairs, crisp white table linens with sheer floral overlays and gilded chargers were all about bringing an air of classic elegance to the day. After dinner, the newlyweds and their guests headed indoors, where band Eastside Mix brought the house down all night long. “Everyone was out on the dance floor all night and John and I placed glow sticks and selfie sticks all along the dance floor to get people in the party mood,” says Lisa. A tip for the taking from Lisa and John: “Spend the time to find great vendors that you trust and enjoy working with. We were lucky enough to work with an amazing group of people who were talented and fun to work with! They kept us sane when things got stressful.”
