An Elegant Tented Wedding at Nottoway Plantation Resort in White Castle, Louisiana

A match made online, Lindsay Stratman (34) and Aaron Stratman (28) met through eHarmony from more than 100 miles apart and became engaged while Lindsay was visiting Aaron in Indiana. The couple was having a picnic in Clifty Falls State Park when Aaron got down on one knee and popped the question. With the help of Alli Sims Wedding and Events, they planned an elegant outdoor wedding filled with gold, mint, ivory and peach details in just six months. “We wanted a Southern-inspired wedding that was timeless and elegant, but also depicted our personalities and where we are from,” says Lindsay. The couple chose Nottoway Plantation Resort in Lindsay’s home state of Louisiana as the venue. “We wanted our out-of-town guests to have a true Louisiana Southern experience and felt this would be a memorable way to let them experience the culture,” she says. Lindsay and Aaron decorated their ceremony space with pink roses and white hydrangeas tied to folding chairs, and a blanket of yellow flower petals lined the aisle. Two lush arrangements of white hydrangeas, pink roses and green hydrangeas in white urns designated the altar where Lindsay and Aaron said “I do.” Their 250 guests enjoyed a cocktail hour of fried oysters and pecan-crusted duck before entering the reception tent, which was decked out in string lights, gold-sequined linens, black chiavari chairs and ornate candelabras filled with hydrangeas. After feasting on an Indiana University-themed groom’s cake and gold-accented wedding cake, the group spent the rest of the night on the dance floor. “Our band, Musical Fantasy, was incredible, and they literally brought the house down,” says Lindsay. “At one point, the band had Aaron and I both on the stage singing and dancing and having the time of our lives.”
