An Elegant Wedding at The Crane Estate in Massachusetts with a Purple-and-Green Palette
As an editor at America’s Test Kitchen, Carolyn Grillo knows a thing or two about good food. So when it came time to plan her wedding to Erin Deadmon, she honed in on the menu. A cocktail hour with Wellfleet oysters and zucchini fritters segued to peach-and-burrata salad, beef tenderloin and a confetti cake made by a colleague. Meanwhile, Erin focused on the music, bringing in an eight-piece band to play Motown and oldies. For the couple, who met while Carolyn was walking her dog Ollie, their first dance song was apt: “Coming Home,” by Leon Bridges. Even after hours surrounded by delicious recipes Carolyn says, “the best part of my day is coming home to Erin and Ollie.”
Carolyn and Erin married on the grounds of the stunning seaside venue The Crane Estate. “We both love the ocean and find beauty and peace in being near the water,” Carolyn says. “The view from The Crane Estate is hard to beat.” Cool blues coursed throughout the event, from the invitations—with Boston map envelope liners—to the hand-dyed table runners, coffee bag favors and bridesmaid dresses. “We chose three colors for the bridesmaids to wear, so the look was related but not overly styled,” Carolyn says. In the tent, chandeliers hung above tables topped with lilacs, Queen Anne’s lace, scabiosa and ranunculus.
