An Elegant Southern Wedding at the Lee Council House in Americus, Georgia
Traci Smith, 25, an elementary school teacher, and Elliott Raines, 27, a landscape designer, met on a blind date set up by his aunt, with whom Traci was doing her teaching internship at the time. “We met for coffee at Walker's Coffee in Athens, GA, and the rest is history!” says Traci. The couple did long distance for a few months after Traci landed her first job, but on a visit one weekend, Elliott popped the question while they walked through a park in Chattanooga.Traditional, elegant and classic Southern was the aesthetic the couple hoped to achieve for their wedding. They chose a soft color palette of champagne, blush and ivory with pops of green. For their ceremony at the First United Methodist Church in Americus, GA, the couple dressed up the traditional church pews with lush boxwood wreaths and large burlap bows, leafy garlands and bunches of striking white flowers. The reception at the Lee Council House was equally as stunning. The historic home was the perfect backdrop for the elegant, Southern affair with its traditional architecture and beautiful natural setting, plus the venue allowed the couple to have a reception that was both inside and outside. From the whimsical moss cake display to the Southern-inspired menu (complete with shrimp and grits, fried chicken and gumbo) and live band, the day reflected all of the things the couple loved.
