Ava Starr, 25, a law school graduate student and Alden West, 27, an environmental engineer met in Bridgton, Maine, where they were both camp counselors at the same summer camp. "We met during the first week of camp and it was pretty much love at first sight. We were inseparable for the rest of the summer!" recalls Ava. After a five-year-long long distance relationship, a big move and a few bumps along the way, Alden surprised Ava on her 24th birthday with a proposal. The couple hosted their wedding at Claxton Farm in Weaverville, NC because of its close proximity to Black Mountain where Alden's family has a cabin and the venue's unparalleled views of surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. "The moment we drove up to Claxton Farm and saw the gorgeous 360 degree mountain views from the ceremony site, we knew it was where we wanted to get married," says Ava.Inspired by the natural beauty of the setting, Ava and Alden chose a color palette of hunter green and ivory and décor, including wood accents, that played off the majestic mountains. "We wanted to keep everything elegant, simple, and natural to highlight the beauty of the barn and the mountains. Our inspiration was the mountains themselves — the view from the barn was gorgeous lush green mountains on all sides, and we wanted that the shine!" says Ava. Ivory and white arrangements of tea roses and hydrangeas accented by lush greenery added a fresh, elegant touch to the reception décor. For a bit of romantic ambiance, the couple decorated the barn with lots of candles and fairy lights to cast a warm, inviting glow over the rustic space.

"After trying on about five dresses, I picked the one that made me so happy I cried — Sottero and Midgley's Sidney Dress. It's an A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline and flower detailing and Swarovski crystals embellishing the bodice. I absolutely loved how it made me feel and it twirled perfectly as we danced the night away!" says Ava.
The bridesmaids wore short chiffon dresses by The Dessy Group in a deep shade of hunter green inspired by the surrounding mountains. Each girl chose the style that was most flattering on their body and accessorized with nude heels and a charm necklace that Ava had gifted them.

Rustic Claxton Farm Reception
Inspired by the mountainous natural setting of Claxton Farms, Ava and Alden wanted the wedding's décor to feel fresh and organic. The couple chose to top their reception tables with all-white arrangements of tea roses and hydrangeas accented by lots of dark greenery. The table numbers, another Ava diy project, were placed in the middle of each centerpiece.
Ava diy-ed the rustic chalkboard cake topper that donned the top of their white chocolate buttercream wedding cake. She painted their first initials using a cursive "girly" A for Ava and a printed "masculine" A for Alden.
Sitting atop a rustic wood slice cake stand made out of a tree stump from Alden's family cabin in Black Mountain, NC, the three-tier ivory cake was decorated with simple ivory frosting, a diy-ed cake topper and a fresh bunch of ivory ranunculuses. The cake itself was white chocolate with raspberry filling and the frosting white chocolate buttercream.
Ava and Alden sent their guests home with small glass jars filled with mixed candied nuts as a wedding favor. The note on each jar said "Merci Beaucoup!" since they newlyweds would be spending their honeymoon in Paris!
As the evening started to die down, the newlyweds and their guests headed outdoors to enjoy a roaring campfire. As a late-night treat, Ava and Alden provided everyone with marshmallows to roast over the fire.
At the end of the night, all of Ava and Alden's guest gathered together to send the newlyweds off in a bright blaze of sparklers.
