An Elegant, Rose Gold-Inspired Wedding at Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club in San Diego, California
Riegan Sage (32 and a writer, tutor and yoga teacher) and Toby Scales (36 and an information architect) had friends and family from all over the country, so they knew a destination wedding was inevitable. After deciding to have their classic nuptials in December, they chose Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club in San Diego, California, where guests would be happy to escape the winter weather. Although Riegan and Toby had no theme in mind, they incorporated an art nouveau look into the decorations—from the navy accents printed in the corners of wedding invitations, to the black-and-white numbers marking each dining table. Riegan's engagement ring inspired the rose-gold palette with touches of dark blue, brought to life through pink bridesmaid dresses and dark blue tuxedos. Tall flower arrangements filled with chrysanthemums, roses, and many other blooms decorated white-covered dining tables where guests sat for the reception dinner. Salted-caramel chocolate tarts, lemon cheesecake squares and marzipan fruits made up only some of the mouthwatering sweets displayed on the dessert table. Our favorite treat had to be the elegant wedding cake, layered with marble pound cake filled with mousse or vanilla sponge cake with mango and passionfruit buttercream—not to mention the design on the masterpiece that totally embodied the art nouveau look Riegan and Toby envisioned.
