An Elegant Rooftop Wedding at The Stanley Event Space in Lee's Summit, Missouri

Shannon Smith (24 and a hair stylist) and Jesse Dziurawiec (31 and a teacher and baseball coach) had their summer rooftop wedding at The Stanley Event Space in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Shannon found her bridal bouquet in The Knot Magazine, a collection of roses, succulents and dusty miller with the exact color palette of coral, mint, gray, and touches of silver. She sent a photo to her florist, who designed each bouquet to match Shannon's vision. "My mom designed all the centerpieces. She spent countless hours making mock designs and shopping at Michaels," Shannon says. When shopping for her wedding dress with eight of her family members, Shannon didn't have to look for long. After trying on the second dress with a sweetheart neckline and skirt made entirely of ruffles, she knew it was the one. "I felt like an absolute princess in it," Shannon says. As a special touch, after the first dances and toasts, Shannon and Jesse dedicated a dance for her parents, who celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary just three days after the wedding. Jesse surprised Shannon by getting all the guys together, putting on sunglasses and singing "Jesse's Girl" to her at the reception. "It was such a fun surprise to be serenaded to that song," Shannon says. A piece of advice from the bride: "Take date nights where you don't talk about wedding details. Remember, you are planning for the rest of your lives together, not just the wedding day."
