For their destination wedding on Johns Island, Ayesha Siddiqi and Brian Guzman incorporated plenty of Pakistani-Muslim traditions—starting with their gorgeous fashion choices. "We both knew we wanted traditional Pakistani outfits but I was not so convinced that I wanted to wear red, which is what brides normally wear," Ayesha says. She ended up with a lehenga choli, which is a two-piece outfit with a skirt and top, featuring an ivory base with light pink and gray thread work. Brian wore a light blue sherwani with white pants and buttons. The Pakistani-Muslim traditions continued with the ceremony, which was officiated by an Imam who flew down from New York City for the wedding. "Unlike western weddings, Pakistani wedding ceremonies generally take place in the same space as the reception," Ayesha explains. "We decorated one space under the tent, and we arranged the guest tables in a way that left enough room for a stage-like area where we sat for the ceremony." Ayesha and Brian sat on a large couch flanked with two chairs, flower arrangements and draping. The entire setup showed off a gray, pink and white color palette that continued into the reception. The simple tablescapes were decorated with gray linens and peachy-pink napkins, and guests ate dinner at simple white folding chairs. Other personal touches included an elegant photo bus, a live painter and lawn games like corn hole and Jenga.
