An Elegant Outdoor Wedding at Geneva National Golf Club in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

Dana Dismeier (25 and a high school teacher) and Eric Klen (24 and an investment banker) first met at a Halloween party in high school. It was not until Dana asked Eric to the spring dance when they really got to know each other. They started dating a few months after that and were together for seven years before they got engaged. Eric proposed to Dana on the state border between Illinois and Wisconsin, where he had first told her he loved her. With so many memories together in Lake Delavan and Lake Geneva, they thought having their wedding in one of those places would be perfect and decided to have their wedding at the Geneva National Golf Club in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Dana wanted the wedding to have an elegant style. "Because our ceremony was taking place outside, it was important to me for our ceremony space to feel 'dressed up,'" she says. With a love for flowers, Dana wanted to be sure the blooms reflected her style and were prominent throughout the ceremony and reception. Bouquets of purple, coral and green camellias, roses and hydrangeas decorated the space. Even with the beautiful flowers, Dana admits that the focal point of the ceremony was the large wooden cross that stood behind her and Eric as they said their vows. The cross was made from a 200-year-old oak tree that once stood in Dana's childhood yard. "The tree had to be cut down in the summer of 2013 and it was decided that a cross would be a great way to bring the 'church feel' to our outdoor ceremony," Dana says. Adding another personal touch to the wedding, Dana and Eric set up a table at the reception with photos of their parents and grandparents on their wedding days. "We wanted our day to be about our families and friends just as much as it was about us," Dana says.
