An Elegant Orange and Blue Wedding in Redlands, California
Lauren Bissell (26 and a professional accountant) and Kevin Bissell (27 and a professional accountant) met while studying accounting at Redlands University in Redlands, California. Kevin immediately noticed Lauren and planned to sit next to her in class to get to know her better. Eventually, the two became friends and then started dating. Kevin proposed to Lauren five years later on a hike at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve in California. "It was perfectly simple and uncomplicated," Lauren says. "He even picked the ring out himself!" Kevin gave Lauren a princess-cut diamond engagement ring with a pave diamond band. "Again, my ring was simple and uncomplicated design, which is what the theme of our wedding really ended up being," Lauren says. The couple chose to have their ceremony and reception on the campus of Redlands University, California at the Alumni House. "It was not only convenient because we could have the ceremony and reception in the same place," Lauren says "But it was located in a secluded part of campus, and the university has special meaning to us as that is where we first met. Since orange is Lauren's favorite color and Kevin likes navy, Lauren and Kevin made their favorite colors a theme throughout their wedding. Lauren carried a orange and blue bouquet, and Kevin wore a navy suit with an orange boutonniere. Their cocktail hour beverages as well as their table settings were also orange and blue. (The centerpieces were also made of oranges!) After the cocktail hour, their guests moved onto the dance floor for more laid back fun. "We tried to have everything at the wedding reflect who we are, individually and as a couple," Lauren says. "Everything was very simple, and that was intentional."
