Inspired by the natural stone and European-inspired architecture of the courtyard of The Magnolia Hotel, Liz Nowadsky and Sean Gill paired a palette of soft taupe, ivory, mauve and gold with rich textures to give their refined fall wedding an old-world edge. The stationery offered guests their first taste of the fete to come: Warm gray text pressed into thick hand-torn paper provided a sense of tactile elegance, while the understated layout and typography added modernity to the traditional printing techniques. A blush and gold marble pattern, another nod to the European design inspiration, was incorporated into both the invitation envelope liner and the tiered wedding cake. To create an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, Liz and Sean chose long dining tables that allowed for easy conversation. Ivory linens with a brocade velvet motif draped the tables, topped with earthy bouquets of white, wine and cinnamon rose flowers. Wood cross-back chairs added to the tables’ organic vibe. The place settings featured taupe lace chargers, rose gold flatware and deckled menus. Truffles, made by the mother of the bride, were packaged as favors and place cards. After dinner, guests were treated to wedding cake made with spiced autumn squash and ice cream sundaes featuring a scoop of the couple’s favorite flavors. “Sean and I have always shared an affinity for ice cream. In fact, one of our first dates was at Ted & Wally’s, a local ice cream shop in the Old Market,” Liz says. “We ended up working with the very same ice cream shop that started it all to make custom his and hers flavors that served as the centerpiece for an ice cream sundae bar for our guests.”
