An Elegant Mountaintop Wedding on the Aspen Wedding Deck in Aspen, Colorado
Dan (37 and an aviation consultant) and Rachel (37 and a director of alumni and community engagement) met through a professional matchmaking service ("It's Just Lunch") and hit it off immediately on their first date to a restaurant. "Dan and I had an immediate connection, and everything that felt like work with prior dates came so naturally for us," Rachel says. After picking Rachel up from the airport (she had spent a week away visiting family), Dan cemented their relationship. Several months later, Dan and Rachel took a spontaneous road trip to Aspen, Colorado, where Dan proposed at one of his favorite fishing spots, the Frying Pan River. In celebration, his parents (who were in town visiting at the time), decorated their condo with champagne, flowers, and candles to congratulate the newly engaged couple. They decided to get married in Aspen, the same place they had celebrated their engagement, on the Aspen Wedding Deck overlooking the mountains. They then moved indoors for an intimate reception in the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Jerome, where guests could get out of the rain and recover from potential altitude sickness. To incorporate the purple mountain range, Dan and Rachel chose a color palette of graphite and lilac for their elegant Aspen wedding.
