The Iris flower, a nod to both the name of the bride and her late mother, played muse to many of the day’s feminine details.

Iris Hernandez (33 and an architect) and Alain Bartroli (42 and an architect) said “I do” in a waterfront ceremony on the Bailey Palm Glade, an outdoor locale that they decorated with gold vessels, garlands and ribbon-wrapped, wood chairs. The bride carried a bouquet of white irises wrapped with a charm containing a photo of her mother, while the groom wore a 1935 Juvenia wristwatch that belonged to his late father.

The groom hand-painted the purple iris seen on both the programs and save-the-dates. Peonies, ranunculus, parrot tulips and garden roses filled an array of translucent vases, while the flower girl wore a matching crown of white blooms. “The beautiful landscapes reflect our personalities,” Iris says of the ceremony.

Guests sat down at wood farm tables set with gold flatware for a family-style meal in the botanical garden. For dessert, they enjoyed a three-tier, orange-flavored cake topped with white irises and an international coffee station, which kept them grooving to Afro-Cuban rhythms on the dance floor.
