An Elegant Industrial Wedding at BRIK Venue in Fort Worth, Texas

High school sweethearts Victoria Tran (25 and a science teacher) and Will Wood (25 and a music teacher) filled their industrial venue with simple, neutral colors and nods to their love of music. Victoria had a lot of help from the internet in creating her industrial-chic vision. She stumbled upon her venue on Instagram, adapted her color scheme from a Pinterest shot and even found Will’s ring on Amazon.com (for only $20). Long wood tables, whimsical calligraphy and pastel blooms gathered into loose, organic arrangements softened the clean lines and exposed brick that dominated the lofty reception space. “We loved the look of the bare wood tables,” Victoria says. They avoided a strict structure when planning out the day’s details. “We both wanted our wedding to not necessarily have a theme or style, but a mood,” Victoria explains. “When Will and I sat down to talk about our wedding ideas, we honestly just wanted our day to be filled with lots of laughter and joy.” The couple incorporated their love of indie music throughout the day, with songs during the ceremony from their favorite artists performed by Will and his groomsmen, and a first dance to Johnnyswim. Instead of reciting vows, the couple sang them to each other. “We fell in love rehearsing for our high school talent show,” Victoria says. “It brought back memories.” A live band started the dance party, and the pair surprised their guests with glow sticks. As for the menu, the pièce de résistance was the couple’s cookie butter layer cake, which Victoria still has dreams about.
