An Elegant, Glamorous Wedding at the Berkeley Plaza in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey

Joy Adaeze (32 and a fashion blogger and cofounder of Curl Sistas Hair) and Obi Okere (32 and cofounder of Curl Sistas Hair) were married in a grand, elegant affair tied together with soft purple and blush tones, regal metallics and odes to their Nigerian backgrounds.

Swedish artist Oana Voitovici created a playful illustration of the couple for their invitations. “We loved working with Oana so much that we hired her to create our programs and menus,” Joy says. That personal touch added to the romantic aura of the day, from the ceremony in Obi’s childhood church to reception menu featuring some of the couple’s favorite dishes.

Joy’s bouquet was a feminine combo of blush peonies, Sahara roses, soft pink spray roses, and ivory and blush roses. Joy’s nieces were her flower girls. She assembled their flower crowns herself.

During the reception, Joy and Obi changed into custom blue and gold Nigerian ensembles, and the DJ played Nigerian Aftobeats music all night. “It was a perfect touch for our reception,” Joy says.
