An Elegant Garden Wedding at Lowndes Grove Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina
Mallory Severs and Kristian Perks fused Lowcountry and wine country elegance to pull off their elegant outdoor wedding at the Lowndes Grove Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. To bring their Southern vineyard motif to life, the couple chose a color palette of ivory and different shades of blue, and built wood structures over some of the dining tables from which hung garlands of ivy and crystal chandeliers. Each part of the event took place on a different part of the Plantation’s expansive lawn. Cocktail hour and dancing got underway under a clear tent decorated with chandeliers and panels of blush, ivory and pale blue fabric. Next to the tent were two open-air vignettes with blue velvet lounges, ginger jars overflowing with flowers, white bars topped with lamps, cocktail tables and a display of old family wedding photos. For dinner, guests headed to the front lawn, which was dotted with a mix of long and square tables dressed with seafoam velvet and printed Chambray Dalusio linens. Vineyard-inspired structures framed the three main tables, while the rest were decorated with tall organic arrangements of lush eucalyptus. The couple wove a subtle travel theme throughout the event, using a globe as their guest book and including foods from places they had traveled to together and lived. “Start early and hire a wedding planner,” Mallory says. “I was biased (Mallory is a wedding planner) but I can’t begin to explain how helpful and less stressful it was to have the help of professionals on the day itself. A lot of people think they can do it themselves and that a planner is an extra cost, but on the day of, the last thing you want to do is stress about the setup or timing or coordinating everyone.”
